Aiken County Public School District Superintendent Corey Murphy recently highlighted dates for a series of upcoming informational meetings to promote the renewal of the one cent sales tax.
These meetings will begin in September and will continue leading up to election day in November.
“These meetings are open to the public and everyone is invited to learn more about the one cent sales tax that our community will have the opportunity to renew for an additional ten years,” Murphy said. “We look forward to seeing our community come out and learn more about this initiative.”
Five projects have been selected as focuses for the sales tax should it be reinstated.
These includerenovations or additions to South Aiken High School, Midland Valley High School, North Augusta Middle School, Silver Bluff High School, plus the addition of a new elementary school in Area Three, which is in the Graniteville area.
The upcoming informational sessions will be held at schools across the district. The full schedule is:
