Farmers Market at the marina bringing fresh items each month. We are striving to bring quality of life to the downtown area.

Items will be priced at $5 a bag, provided by the organization. Cash and card accepted. Patrons will be able to shop our inventory of books and plenty of audiobooks. Proceeds benefit the programming of the Terrebonne Parish Library System, including the Summer Reading Program activities, performers, and bike giveaway. The Friends of the Terrebonne Public Library aim to help to obtain high-quality programs for children and adults and to make the library more visible in the community.

The Terrebonne Parish Library will be hosting their annual Art Supply Swap on Saturday, August 17 at the Main Library, locate at 151 Library Drive in Houma (next to the Civic Center).Have extra art supplies in good condition? Help us divert materials from landfills while encouraging environmentally friendly creation!How it works: Community members can donate their new or gently used art supplies they no longer need to the Main Library during August 5 – 16 Donation Days. Patrons who donate art supplies will get a “30-minute early-bird ticket” to the Giveaway Day from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on August 17 to get new or different art supplies. The Giveaway Day will be open to all community members to get free art supplies from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on August 17.

The Terrebonne Folklife Culture Center is offering Cajun dance lessons! Participants are encouraged to bring a dance partner. There is a $5 fee per person. Class sizes are limited.

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government observes 11 regular holidays throughout the year. Public Transit buses will use the weekend schedule during all observed holidays. Garbage collections are suspended/cancelled on New Year's Day, Mardi Gras Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day only. Get ready to test your knowledge and enjoy a fun-filled evening at the Main Library in Houma! Trivia enthusiasts over the age of 18 are invited to join the competition for a chance to showcase their smarts and win exciting prizes. The event promises a variety of questions across multiple categories, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Participants can sign up their own teams of four or they can let us group them with other participants!“We are excited to bring our community together for an evening of intellectual fun,” said Phyllis Schmitz, President of the Friends of the Terrebonne Public Library. “Trivia Night is a great way to celebrate our love for learning and support the library’s mission. We invite everyone to come out, test their trivia skills, and enjoy a memorable night with us.” Admission is $5 per person. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is encouraged but not required.
